Cinnamon Candied Pecans are sweet and irresistible, completely fruit-sweetened, these little treats can be the healthy snack option at your holiday events!
As we get closer to Thanksgiving and, dare I say it, Christmas, parties and get-togethers become the topic of conversation. Me? I'm thinking about projects and exams. But I'm also daydreaming about Cinnamon Candied Pecans.
Why? Because Cinnamon Candied Pecans are sweet snacks that I may or may not consume by the handful.
But it's fine. Because nuts have so many health benefits.
Pecans have good fats, making you feel satiated and full, so you don't overeat. Several studies show that regular nut consumption is associated with lower body weight and may even help you lose weight.
Plus, pecans have one of the highest antioxidant contents among nut types AND can help fight cancer (nutritionfacts.org).
God gave us such delicious and nourishing food to eat!
Let's get into it.
Step 1. Like in my roasted and salted pecan recipe, the first step is to soak the pecans in water. This helps the other ingredients stick to the nuts in the oven and helps reduce digestion-harming enzyme inhibitors. In other words, don't skip this step!
Step 2. Drain the pecans and coat them in date syrup, date sugar, and cinnamon. Toss to combine.
Step 3. Spread the nuts on a parchment-lined pan and bake in the oven at 350 for 30-35 minutes, stirring once or twice. You'll know the nuts are done when they are just starting to turn brown and the date syrup has hardened as a shell on the pecans.
Step 4. Take the nuts out of the oven and let them cool for 10 minutes. This will ensure the date syrup is fully hardened and will also help you practice the virtue of patience. Cinnamon Candied Pecans smell AMAZING fresh out of the oven.
When the nuts are cool, gobble them down by the handful (like I do) or, you know, save them and put them out at your next holiday party. Your guests will be thrilled to know that what they are eating is both healthy and delicious. Enjoy!
Jesus thank you for antioxidant-filled, cancer-fighting pecans. Help us to practice patience and temperance in our enjoyment of these healthy treats. Use these pecans to bring people together in a time meant for celebrating family and friends. Amen.
